The Pilcrow Pub is a pub being built from scratch as it moves around the NOMA neighborhood in Manchester, England

NOMA is a 20-acre, £800 million redevelopment project in north Manchester. And like all English neighborhoods, it needs a good pub for the locals to go. That pub will be The Pilcrow, but unlike other construction projects in the area, this will be built by volunteers working with tradespeople, as a bid to revitalize disappearing craft skills.

The Pilcrow Pub—which recently submitted development plans to the Manchester City Council for approval—will be designed as a temporary structure that will move around the neighborhood as it is built. In the building phase, there will be a series of free workshops, where volunteers can learn a new skill and then apply it to building a part of the pub itself.
