A Google engineer has devised a multi-factorial tool that will help you calculate savings when you turn your home into a solar-powered one. Named Project Sunroof, it’s an early stage project poised to educate people about the potential financial benefits of using the sun’s rays as electricity.

Installing solar panels in a domestic dwelling can be very unconvincing at face value. The costs can be sky-high and fears over maintenance considerations are plenty. It also makes sense to worry about cloudy weeks when the expensive panels can’t churn out enough electricity to even power a single bulb.
