Fashion That Lets You Netflix and…Stun
Is Opening Ceremony's Fall/Winter 2015 Lookbook trying to make binge-watching a fashion aesthetic? Might 'Netflix and Chill' need a makeover?
Staying in, watching Netflix and ordering delivery is no longer the realm of the reclusive introverts: it’s become ingrained into our day-to-day culture. In fact, it’s got a culture of its own, and Opening Ceremony wants to appeal to the market in high street fashion style. Opening Ceremony’s Fall/Winter 2015 lookbook features glassy-eyed models affixed to their laptop screens in an editorial titled: “Are You Still Watching?”
According to photographer Matthew Kelly:
I wanted the images in Opening Ceremony’s latest photo journal to emulate the trance that occurs when a viewer has been binge-watching. Although the images that I shot are set in the dark, they’re a little bit more realistic than what these online streaming companies are advertising. Plus, I don’t think staying in to watch the whole new season of OITNB ever killed anyone, right? Stream on.
