Designing a Television to Complement Rather Than Dominate Decor
Has the time come for home electronics that don't look like electronics? Samsung and Studio Bouroullec think so
Since their invention and adoption, televisions have dominated the room they're put in. At first, this was a design feature—a way of showing off possession of a popular new piece of technology. Even after the novelty faded, the look and feel of televisions made them stand out from the softer, more colorful look of the rest of most living rooms. French designers Ronana and Erwan Bouroullec have teamed up with TV manufacturer Samsung to create the Serif TV, a set that blends with modern furnishings to make the screen just part of a room's overall motif.
