The Emergency Tampon could come in handy during your time of the month and puts the stigma of a natural process in its crosshairs

Tampons no longer have to hide in the dark corners of purses. Industrial Designer Katarina Hornwall has created an Emergency Tampon necklace.

The idea for the necklace prototype developed organically. Hornwall, a masters student at the Lund University School of Industrial Design in Sweden, was having beers with friends when the stigma around tampons came up in conversation.

“We just started to talk about the feeling of being ashamed or embarrassed to ask a friend, or anyone, for a tampon when you have your period,” she said. “I just thought that it would be fun to do a tampon project.”
