PSFK sits down with our NYC event panelist Michael Africk, CEO and co-founder of Inmoji, to discuss key themes of the Future of Retail 2016 report

Brands of today are already communicating with consumers in print, on the Web, over social media and in person. But which media environment will the brands of tomorrow tap? If you ask Michael Africk, CEO and co-founder of Inmoji, he’ll clue you in on a little secret: branded texting experiences are on the horizon. Africk, a veteran mobile entrepreneur, will share more of his retail secrets and mobile expertise at the PSFK Future of Retail Event in NYC this Tuesday, October 20.

Inmoji is a software service that allows retailers to develop unique and interactive brand experiences (read: branded emojis) for SMS. Unlike traditional advertising, Inmoji’s experiences are largely organic—it’s possible to send a friend a Starbucks emoticon and redeem it for an in-store latte with no additional Starbucks marketing involved. Consumers provide their own context for brand conversation and become brand ambassadors in peer-to-peer conversations.
