This service finds safe, free temporary housing solutions for refugee families

As the world tries to come to grips with images and news of the largest refugee crisis since World War II, three young adults in the Netherlands have launched an Airbnb-inspired website for asylum seekers. Named Refugee Hero, the platform is a tool helping immigrants find temporary accommodation—for free.

The Refugee Hero site allows individuals to advertise spare rooms available for refugees to stay in when they arrive in a new country. Inspired by Airbnb, the founders, Germaine Statia, Jamal Oulel and Ayoub Aouragh, wanted to provide the same style of service for refugees with a few distinctions.
