This glove takes inspiration from dolphin's bio sonar to help a user find objects in a way that goes beyond basic human touch

Touch functions as an important sense when it comes to everything from locating objects to gathering your bearings during an emergency situation. In many ways, touch might seem overlooked in an age with a heavy focus on virtual reality and increasingly digital-only experiences. But a new project has found a way to extend the sense of touch beyond its current realm instead of leaving it behind altogether.

Created by Ph.D candidates Aisen Caro Chacin and Takeshi Ozu at Japan's EMP Tsukuba University, IrukaTact looks a lot like a gaming glove. But it serves a different purpose: to extend the sense of touch in a way that includes the sensing of objects that might not be easily visible to the human eye.
