A cry for help from the Arctic that isn't so cute, cuddly or comforting

Polar Bears are often used as the animal ambassadors of the movement to halt climate change and raising global warming awareness —they can be cute and fuzzy, but their role as fierce predators speaks to the human urge to fight for survival. With so many cutesy portrayals of the beasts (especially by Coca-Cola) re-emerging around the holidays every year, however, it comes as a shock to see the creatures emaciated and fading away. A traveling sculpture that has now come to Montreal in time for the COP21 conference this year makes this distant fact stirringly concrete.
