Crowd-sourced content, professional editing, and revenue shares collide in novel publishing model

Writers on the hunt for another way to further their content and earn some cash are using SLANT, a new online platform with a unique approach and business model. Soft-launched last year, SLANT differentiates itself from other services by employing professional digital editors to edit and optimize content.

Starting with a closed beta test limited to 100 handpicked writers, SLANT was surprised by the enthusiasm for the platform and ended up adding close to 200 more writers to its testing phase. “The most surprising finding was the sheer amount of interest in writing on SLANT, showing us that we were providing something the market didn’t have before, and even starting a community, as writers tended to bring on their friends and classmates,” SLANT Editorial Director Amanda Gutterman tells PSFK.
