This content powerhouse hopes to elevate female filmmakers

In an effort to chip away, and hopefully shatter, Hollywood's glass ceiling and close the gender-equality gap in the entertainment industry, Vimeo is launching a three-pronged initiative called Share the Screen. The project's goal is to elevate and empower female filmmakers by investing in female-led programming, educational workshops and onsite promotions spotlighting female voices.

To learn more about the project PSFK was able to catch up with Kevin Turner, Senior Communications Manager at Vimeo. When asked if there was anything in particular regarding the gender-equality gap in the entertainment industry that pushed Vimeo to launch Share the Screen, Turner explained that Vimeo recognized the “industry overall has allowed things to be severely out of balance in terms of equal opportunities for men and women.”
