Denmark's capital made a big investment in new, intelligent traffic signals

Copenhagen is known for its massive bike culture. Now, the city is ready to modernize their 35-year-old traffic light system by investing in intelligent traffic signals, that will improve flow for both cyclists and public transport.

The Copenhagen City Council has already approved a budget of 60 million kroner ($9.1 million in USD) to buy 380 of the new signals, as well as implementing the Intelligent Transport Systems or ITS. This new system is expected to cut bus travel time from 5 to 20 percent and 10 percent for cyclists.
