Robot assistants need to be something you'd want around during a family birthday

With the creation of social robots like JIBO and Pepper, tech companies hope to design machines that feel like anything but. These devices act as helpers—friendly presences that seamlessly blend into everyday tasks and make it easier for users to remember appointments, wake up at the right time and share important moments on social media. The team behind XIBOT hopes to take this one step further by designing a device that users will see as another member of their family

With small ears perched on either side of a rounded screen and a tail-like feature on the backside of its stand, XIBOT also resembles a kitten.
