Two Portuguese tattoo artists are revolutionizing the power of communication on the skin

Right now, the concept of moving tattoos seems like something you’d only see in the movies. It’s the stuff of science fiction and fantasy films, where the character is struggling to fit in between two worlds. But two Portuguese video mapping artists, Oskar & Gaspar, decided they wanted to challenge the concept of fantasy vs. reality by creating and projecting animated tattoos onto the skin.

The design concept was first showcased in Lisbon, in which the inventors showcased their video map tattoos on a human body. The man who stepped onto the platform already had several tattoos on his arms and legs, and when the projections began, it sought to enhance the artwork. It transported the existing tattoos into a dynamic, moving picture show that spanned his entire body and captivated the eye.
