How Planned Parenthood is Developing a Redesigned Patient Experience
Imagining an overhaul to traditional healthcare systems through employee empowerment programs and digital transformation
Planned Parenthood has been a controversial organization since its inception. As a provider for some of the 1 in three American women who have had an abortion in their lifetime, there is a looming social stigma that surrounds the medical institution. Regardless of myriad national opinions, the nonprofit sees almost 2.5 millions of patients a year to empower them with information, education, support and life-saving healthcare.
One year ago, Planned Parenthood partnered with global design consultancy IDEO to imagine an innovative five-year overhaul to the organization’s traditional systems. The collaborative project birthed a series of six forward-looking concepts with an aim to meet the changing needs and behaviors of patients in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.
