Lifeguards working in subzero temperatures can now enjoy a more comfortable work stand

One will be surprised to know that in the winter of 2015, even with temperatures at record high, residents of Toronto, Canada still flocked the beaches despite the wind and snow. As a result, this 2016, the Winter Stations Design Competition returns with a new concept that will work for all Torontonians: winter-ready lifeguard stands.

The winner of the competition was In the Belly of a Bear, a 15-foot diameter dome structure featuring a wooden ladder that invites everyone to climb aboard. And you’d be glad to know that people actually loved hanging out inside the bear’s belly.
