Unfold this backpack accordion-style and climb in to get some rest during a camping trip

Going on a camping trip requires packing all the right tools and accessories. Before you even pack your tent, your backpack will probably already be stuffed with everything from clothes to a lantern to a canteen. In order to consolidate the load, David Shatz created Melina, a backpack that stores your supplies but also unfolds to become a tent. With the backpack, users can save space and keep everything in one place.

As part of a project by the Department of Industrial Design, led by Benjamin Swig for the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem, third and fourth years students created a variety of projects. For his project, Shatz created the accordion-style unfolding backpack.
