Uniqlo Ice Cream Truck Offers Colorful Connections at SXSW
Frozen treats mark a unique partnership between two ecommerce trailblazers
If you were at SXSW, you might have spotted an ice cream truck driving around. This interesting ambassador of cold treats is brought to you by Spring, an online marketplace who recently struck a deal with Uniqlo. This makes it the first and only third-party platform where mass fashion retailer Uniqlo is selling its products, alongside its in-house online e-commerce website and stores.
The cute truck brandished “Shop Uniqlo on Spring” decals and joined the events March 17th and 18th at local SXSW hotspots. Despite the concept, the truck featured ice cream perfect for adults.
The truck distributed GoodPop popsicles, a brand from Austin, Texas that uses organic ingredients to make all-natural, low-calorie, mostly vegan fruit pops (with some interesting dairy-based flavors like coffee).
To make the truck even more relevant, it also gifted an exclusive Uniqlo UltraLight Vest customized with fun PinTrill pins. A Spring representative tells PSFK:
“Spring is known for connecting brands directly to consumers in innovative ways where you can discover amazing products and exclusive offerings. With brands such as Rebecca Minkoff, Marissa Webb, Urban Outfitters, Eileen Fisher, Outdoor Voices and now Uniqlo on their roster, Spring continues to garner the interest of mogul brands to help leverage their products via Spring’s forward-thinking shopping platform to connect with a new consumer.”
With over 800 brands on board, Spring plans to make shopping fun again through an interesting blend of commerce and content.
