New York hotel is giving guests a chance to explore their artistic side

From major brands to independent artists, a number of makers have created adult coloring books to help users de-stress and spark their imagination. Somehow, the coloring book has gone from a strictly juvenile toy to a full-blown category at bookstores—for adults. Something about coloring intricate designs helps adults get away from the bustle of the day or decompress after a long week. Now, YOTEL New York has teamed up with artist Ian Sklarsky to create custom coloring books for guests.

What separates these books from similar ones is Skarsky's technique—the artist practices blind contouring, a zen method that encourages the artist to draw without looking at the paper. This form of automatic creation allows artists to let their imaginations lead them.
