Bin cleans up UK streets by encouraging smokers to place a vote with their cigarette butts

In the U.K., cigarette litter on the streets has become an increasing problem. In Villiers Street alone, cigarette butts account for 72 percent of the litter. Hubbub wants to tackle this problem and sought the help of Common Works studio to create a cigarette butt bin with a purpose. Thus, the Ballot Bin was born.

Since it’s very hard to mandate smokers to stop leaving their cigarette butts anywhere, Hubbub thought of a way to get the involvement of cigarette users. According to Hubbub, the main culprits of the litters are young males and so, Hubbub made sure that the Ballot Bin appeals to this demographic.
