Design Students Tweak Everyday Objects For Intuitive Use
These clever designs take the complexity out of simple tools
Second year masters students at the Swiss design school ECAL has teamed up with Swiss technology brand Punkt to rethink everyday devices. The result is an interesting group of home items that highlight ease-of-use as its most important feature.
The brochure opens with a clock that hangs on corners, the CC 01. Designed by DongKyun Lim, this odd positioning allows the clock to be visible from more angles in the room compared if it is stuck to a flat wall. Fellow student Jérémy Faivre replaced all the buttons of a modern digital camera with just one. His DC 01 camera design doesn’t have a screen and shoots photos with a simple click. This means the user can continue enjoying the moment without the distraction.
