‘Instagram-Exclusive’ Milkshake Hints At The Future Of Social Commerce
Sonic introduces #SquareShakes, the world's first milkshake designed for Instagram
Fast-food restaurant Sonic will debut their new line of milkshakes with a campaign especially designed for Coachella. On April 16, festival-goers will be able to order a #SquareShake exclusively through Instagram and pay by posting a picture to their accounts.
The product is the first designed and made to be sold through Instagram, and its meant to introduce their new like of Creamery Shakes. With this in mind, their agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners enlisted the help of chef Christine Flynn (aka @chefjacqueslamerde, known for poking fun at fine dining by photographing junk food items in a sophisticated way) to deconstruct the shakes and put them back together in a novel way. With flavors like bourbon brown sugar and wildberry and lavender, everything about the shakes is square-themed to fit the platform resulting in fun and visually striking images and videos.
