Using e-paper and sensors, the FlexCase allows for both 2D and 3D manipulation

Smartphone cases are designed for very functional purposes, namely to protect a phone from any harm. While they continue to evolve aesthetically as well as functionally, they mostly remain the same in terms of their interactions with smartphones and their abilities.

One team wants to extend the functionality of the case. FlexCase is a flip cover that creates new interactions between the case and the phone.

The Media Interaction Lab, University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Microsoft Research and the Institute of Surface Technologies and Photonics, Joanneum Research teamed up to create the case. They explain more about the project in the accompanying description to a YouTube video:
