Santander launched a feature on one of its mobile banking apps that allows customers to search and inquire about their statements using voice recognition technology.

Using voice-activation, a customer can ask about how much they spent at a location on any given day, and a voice will reply with an answer. The future will enable an expanded range of capabilities, including making payments, reporting lost cards and analysis of spending. Given the safety and security of personal banking, the customer will be required to sign up using a specific customer ID, password and registration number.
