Lucky owners can now pretend they are driving a Kart

With the recent software update to Tesla cars comes a pleasant surprise for gamers. Owners can now activate a Mario Kart mode, which turns the road you’re on (at least on the video screen) into a Mario Kart-style rainbow road.

Official notes on the software update (7.12.16.17) did not mention this easter egg nor provide instructions on how to activate it. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has tweeted how to activate this fun view. To go into Mario Kart-mode, drivers must activate autopilot 4x in quick succession. Musk calls this hidden feature a psychedelic cowbell road and he notes there would be more cowbells to come.

Tesla has done similar quirks in the past, turning their car avatar into a James Bond sedan/submarine hybrid in the main interface.
