Can robots recreate human relationships? These social robots attempt to make that a reality

As robots continue to imitate human-like characteristics, we might be getting closer to some version of robot-human relationships. At least, that’s what the future looks like thanks to social robots like Pepper. Gowild, a technology company in China, has developed two different robots to create unique social interactions. Gong Zi and Xiao Bai, male and female respectively, are social robots that imitate the behavioral patterns of humans.

The team puts a strong emphasis on the emotional quality of the robots. For example, the robot can turn and look at the user when he/she speaks to it, imitating the way a human would turn their head to listen to a friend.
