Hitachi's robotic helper helps navigate in crowded spaces

The EMIEW3, recently revealed by Hitachi, is a robotic store clerk. It can autonomously approach customers or people who look lost and offer to help. Meant to work in a team, it features a ‘remote brain' which is connected to the cloud allowing several units to work together and provide high-quality services to users.

The EMIEW3 is designed primarily to operate in public spaces and become a sort of usher to the crowd. For example, in an airport, the EMIEW3 can help lost tourists find the check-in counter or the nearest bathrooms. In malls, the robot can help shoppers find stores.
