Macy’s Offers Store Credit For Your Used Clothes
A partnership with thredUP aims to give customers' clothes a second life
Department store chain Macy’s has partnered with the online consignment service thredUP to let customers exchange their slightly used name-brand clothing and shoes for gift cards in an attempt to become more sustainable.
Shoppers can order a Clean Out Kit online, fill it up and then drop it off at a local USPS, FedEx Office or leave it on their doorstep for their mail carrier. Items are reviewed by thredUP, who will send an email with the accepted items and their corresponding value. Unaccepted items can be returned, or thredUP will donate or recycle them in partnership with thrifting companies, wholesalers and charities. Macy’s will then send out gift cards by email based on the value of the accepted items.
