Cavaliers fans gifted headsets gain a unique view of team content

Cleveland Cavaliers fans immersed in their team’s NBA playoff run were able to soak in the experience in another dimension this past Thursday, as Budweiser sponsored a virtual reality experience by handing out cardboard VR headsets to patrons in attendance at Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The headsets, which doubled as a beer carrying case, stemmed from the minds of WME | IMG, AB InBev’s U.S. sports marketing agency of record. Cavs supporters could view VR tours of the team’s locker room, as well as a courtside view of player introductions and the national anthem. The Cavaliers are the first team to incorporate VR into their official team app, and more executions are expected as their playoff journey continues.
