Underground Mall Concept Rethinks New Yorkers’ Commutes
29 vendors transform the 325 ft long stretch underneath Columbus Circle
TurnStyle is an underground mall concept that opened for business April 19 of this year. Designed by Architecture Outfit, it features over 39 vendors in the 325 ft long passage between 57th St and 59th St in the Columbus Circle subway station. Vendors are invited on a rotating basis.
At its opening, TurnStyle included 20 food vendors and 12 boutiques. Local favorites such as Bolivian Llama Party and Ellary’s Greens are among the eateries included in the hall. The concept is based on New York’s Grand Central Market in Grand Central Station. Open everyday from 8am to 8pm, TurnStyle hopes its retail options will ease the pain of a busy commute for New Yorkers and tourists alike.
