The move towards the future is leading airlines into a more efficient age of baggage handling

Delta Air Lines will soon forget traditional baggage tags. In it's place would be Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-enabled tags that let human-free stations scan luggage quickly and with more detailed information.

In the fourth quarter of this year, the airline foresees allowing passengers to track their luggage on the Fly Delta app. Soon, they will be know the exact moment their bags enter the (correct) airplane, get off of it and they can know exactly when it falls unto the airplane baggage carousel.
