Tranquillo offers an interruption-free mode by turning on when users put their phones down

Most smartphone users keep their devices on them throughout the day so they don't miss a beat. That includes keeping up with work emails, Slack messages and any other notifications related to the office.

But an Italy-based designer wants to keep the phone away from users for a more productive work session. Avid Kadam came up with the concept for Tranquillo, a lamp that actually encourages users to keep their cell phones from getting in the way of their workflow.

As explained on Kadam's Behance page, Tranquillo is “activated by placing the phone on the dock.” The phone then goes into do not disturb mode for peak productivity, but can also be used for other purposes:
