In Brief

MakerNurse is providing technology to create maker spaces for hospital staff

Nurses spend the most time with patients managing equipment, delivering medication and making sure everyone gets the round-the-clock care they deserve. In this working environment, nurses have the biggest chance of finding poor solutions to problems. With this in mind, MakerNurse was built, a platform that allows nurses to build solutions with modern tools (like 3D printers and Arduino) for better healthcare for patients.

This initiative has already seen some impressive projects including Roxana Reyna, RN who used the MakerNurse tools to build a special bandage for babies born with protruding intestines. Her invention, although using only medical fabric and bandages, helps prevent newborns from getting infections while waiting for surgery.
