Zappos invites its customers to 'think outside the box' about their product packaging

Starting June 1, online retailer Zappos will begin shipping its footwear in redesigned packaging, designed to inspire customer to creatively reuse the shoebox for different purposes. The box interior is printed with patterns that instruct users to fold, cut and transform the package into a phone case, shoe sizer, planter or figurine.

The packaging redesign is part of Zappos’ larger #Imnotabox campaign with a mission of inspiring customers to think creatively during their everyday actions. The campaign also pushes audiences to rethink their identities—and their footwear—as more than meets the box.
