AMC aired the first episode of their new show on social media giant's streaming service

While most TV shows are aired over the traditional cable airwaves only later to be posted online, AMC decided to give fans early access to their newest series Preacher by steaming it on Facebook Live.

Facebook's latest addition allows pages and people to post live video onto their timeline, which AMC utilized to air the first episode of the show on Thursday. According to Business Insider, over 18,000 viewers tuned in and commented live on the episode. The show is an adaptation of the Vertigo graphic novel of the same name, following the adventures of Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher given the power to command obedience from anyone who hears and understands him.
