Make your social media habit more productive and scroll through this feed filled with Japanese flashcards

Memorizing vocabulary can be one of the most challenging parts of learning a new language, and a common way to remember a long list of foreign words is through visual aids and continual repetition. One Instagram account is aiming to make it easier to learn Japanese, a language particularly difficult to master.

Nihongo Flashcards, created by Japanese design studio Pompette, features beautifully illustrated flashcards that make studying the new language more manageable. Each one contains a word in Japanese with its pronunciation and English equivalent. The illustrations are mostly food related and include phrases like ‘gochisousama deshita,’ a saying derived from the custom of giving thanks before and after a meal, as well as facts and information on how the food is prepared.
