Landlords Scan Facebook To Check If You Can Pay Rent
A controversial tool analyzes the words used on social media to determine the reliability of a potential renter
Finding an apartment in a major city is already difficult these days and a UK startup called Score Assured has developed a software that could make it even harder. Tenant Assured, one of the services offered by the startup, is targeted at landlords who feel like credit score and proof of employment aren’t enough to judge potential renters. The software scrapes private and public of a potential tenant’s social media accounts, and uses this information to generate a report that evaluates their personality traits and interests, and whether or not they’d be able to pay rent based on their interactions and the language they use.
