Tablet Software Helps Campaign Volunteers Better Canvass Neighborhoods
Polis gives campaign HQs real time analytics while assisting volunteers in the field
Poli-tech startup Polis created a tool to help canvassers be more efficient and track their progress.
As campaign volunteers go out to speak to different neighborhoods, the app calculates the most efficient routes to cover their ground. Unlike Google Maps or Waze which consider traffic, Polis identifies clusters of potential voters to help canvassers be more efficient in their reach. Routes are also optimized not to cross major streets. Canvassers are asked to mark notes on tablets as opposed to pencils and clipboards as is traditionally the case. As volunteers indicate who they have contacted, head field offices have are able to see real time analytics. The digital nature of this data collection also eliminates typos from data entry and handwriting mistakes.
