The automaker is opening a small showroom to appeal to the retailer's upscale shoppers

Tesla Motors, Elon Musk’s manufacturer of premium electric vehicles, is partnering with Nordstrom to open a gallery in Los Angeles this Father’s Day weekend. The 400-square-foot space will feature the Model X SUV and will be located in the men’s department of Nordstrom at The Grove, a high-end retail complex owned by real-estate mogul Rick Caruso.

Interested consumers will get the chance to check out the various interiors and trim options, and can even go for an on-site test drive. While the cars aren’t available for purchase at the store, this partnership is part of the automaker’s efforts to make car buying more convenient for its customers. The gallery will be open through the end of 2016, and future partnerships with the department store will depend on customers’ response to the location.
