A startup is developing a system to teach old trucks future-proof tricks

While companies like Google and Tesla are scrambling to get passengers into self-driving cars, a startup is focusing on getting cargo trucks first dibs on the technology. Otto, a startup developing self-driving kits, thinks these vehicles shouldn’t be left out of the race to driverless.

Instead of building trucks, the startup is instead focusing on kits that can upgrade trucks into self-driving vehicles. An introductory video reveals that this kit will involve a beam that installs above the driver’s cabin. This beam supports an array of sensors and cameras. However, how the wheel is steered or the foot pedals modified aren’t made clear.
