This simple web tool converts a blog into an immersive VR space

In just one day, programmer Thomas Balouet created TumbVR, a simple tool that generates virtual reality content from Tumblr blogs. Using a FrameVR and NodeJS, the WebVR tool works on compatible browsers on smartphones or Oculus.

By simply adding a blog URL on TumbVR, an art gallery is generated complete with marble flooring and grand ceiling moldings. The art on display would be images featured on the selected Tumblr blog. While the graphics aren’t groundbreaking, the simple project shows off the potential of light VR content viewable by browsers. With VR often associated with power-hungry graphic rendering, this simpler showcase demonstrates that VR is fare more flexible than previously imagined.
