Disappearing furniture and energy-efficient tech creates a sustainable city oasis

Want all the luxuries of an at-home patio, but within the physical (and financial) confines of an urban apartment? Maximizing living space and budget, Hong Kong design firm Liquid Interiors designed an urban micro-oasis where living features blend into the apartment infrastructure.

Atop the 400-square-foot studio apartment, a rooftop terrace serves as an outdoor meditation and exercise area. To optimize space for a variety of activities, the terrace includes two lounge chairs that, when not in use, fold back into the wooden plank flooring. Other eco- and space-friendly features in the apartment include an expandable living room and kitchen appliances that are stow away behind cabinets.
