Alibaba is taking preorders on its first automobile that pushes for deeper integration with the Internet of Things

The giant Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba is launching their first smart car. The OS’CarRX5 is a sports utility vehicle that is available for pre-order through Tmall at 148,800 yuan ($22,000), and will be China’s first mass-produced smart car.

The car was produced in partnership with SAIC Motor Corp, China’s state-owned automaker, and uses Alibaba’s YunOS operating system, currently used in smartphones and tablets as well as smart appliances, like refrigerators and air conditioners.
