The interactive set uses bricks and augmented reality to unlock hidden worlds

Building blocks like LEGO and Lincoln Logs defined a generation, just like iPads are shaping the current one. KOSKI, a building block game designed by RCA graduate Václav Mlynář, aims to bring both worlds together.

The game is made of two parts: a set of building blocks with magnetic plastic discs and an iPad app. The discs are tracked using the device’s camera, which uses object recognition technology to augment the physical structure created with the blocks adding details like ladders and waterfalls that a virtual character can run through, climb over or jump off. Since the discs are magnetized, the blocks can be connected at height and form a stable structure.
