Hospitality disrupter Airbnb has been facing a deluge of challenges regarding race, implicit bias and charges of discrimination. Amidst this environment there have been numerous attempts to figure out why Airbnb has been in the crosshairs and what, if anything can be done about it. Of course, before we can come to solutions there has to be a proper understanding of the problem.

A recent Fast Company article reported that whites are more likely to use Airbnb than blacks. This article was based on research conducted by Pew Research. It goes on to say:
