Hours of the day dematerialize into shadowed remnants with this French-designed wall piece

French designer Bertrand Jayr has masterminded a clock that makes visible the passage of the time. Dubbed the Life in Progress Clock, the creation uses a reimagined design which replaces conventional numbers by materializing sunlight through concrete slits. A mechanized dial turn45s inside the clock’s shell, chasing away the hours in a poetic metaphor illustrating time’s inescapability.

Minimalistic lines, the absence of traditional digits, and simple white hands help construct this clock’s simplistic and subtle blueprint. Through smooth and fluid movements, the concrete timepiece moves with the hours, acting as a invitation to bear in mind the nuances of life, such as the fleetingness of time.
