A stand-alone app expands beyond the home-sharing service to include personalized recommendations and tours by hosts
Airbnb is currently testing a new stand-alone app that would help travelers to create custom itineraries. Simply called Airbnb Trips, it will be similar to current crowd-sourced discovery apps like Yelp and Foursquare, where users can get local recommendations to restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and entertainment.
In addition to suggestions for places, the trip-planning app will also include curated activities such as tours, happy hours, concerts, and festivals. The app could also allow hosts to earn a bit more money as they will be able to provide personalized tours to guests.
