Kate Spade’s New Fitness Trackers Push Wearable Tech Into High Fashion
The retailer joins other designers in bringing tech-assisted lifestyles to the luxury clothing market
Luxury brand Kate Spade has released a line of stylish fitness trackers and smartwatches. One fitness tracker appears as a charming bangle, with mother of pearl accents and an engraving of the motto “seize the day” on the inside. Another uses a silicon band, upgraded by an adorable gold kitty motif. The trackers can be used to track activity levels and sleep patterns, as well as change music, take selfies, and connect to a Kate Spade phone app. The silicone tracker will retail for $125, a bangle $150 and a smartwatch for $250 online and at New York Kate Spade locations. Kate Spade joins a collection of other designers, such as Michael Kors and Tory Burch, dipping into the wearable tech world.
