DIY system enables gardeners to create grass armchairs in their yard using cardboard frames

TERRA!, a system that allows amateur landscapers to build natural furniture into their yards and gardens, was taken off the market soon after it was introduced about 15 years ago, but the product’s developers have now relaunched a modern version. Each TERRA! project is built around a laser-cut framework system that consumers assemble and then cover with soil. Grass grows through the soil, forming an ‘armchair’ that appears to be one with the surrounding landscape.

TERRA! was taken off the market due to the unsustainable nature of the creators’ production method, but Studio Nucleo, the Italian design studio behind the project, said its decreased reliance on large companies for manufacturing and distribution will allow it to flourish this time around. The new version of TERRA! also incorporates smaller framework pieces that are simpler to assemble and easier to transport, according to the company.
