Bike Seismograph Measures Every Bumpy Ride
This DIY terrain-charting add-on lets cyclists measure their street routes
Cyclists often deal with rocky terrain whether they are riding off road or on busy city streets. One active cyclist and inventor wanted to see just how bumpy her rides were getting, and thus designed this bike seismograph to chart it out.
The device measures the ups and downs of the cyclist’s journey with a scroll of paper and a pen attached to a cable, that when linked to the front wheel moves the writing apparatus up and down to give an accurate charting of the movement. While this seismograph is not available for purchase, those with crafting and constructing skills can put one together themselves.
